7:16 p.m. - 2009-10-13 I guess we're moving home in December rather than July. Still coming to terms with this.

The food is all included and it's like only 25km away from where we live. I've been there a few times with and without guests. Kind of has a feel of a Rennaisance Fair. They got the tribal thing goin' on. It's got the fire eater thing. They even play listenable worldly dance music. Not a bad way to wile away a few hours. I also knew that one has to drive through some fairly soft dunes to get to the bowl of sand where it all takes place. They recommend you take a lot of air out of your tires to make the dunes easier to negotiate. I've not needed to do that for this place in the past. I just drop it into 4H and leave it in low and blast away. But one thing I always do is park it on a hill in order to have that momentum for the departure. Why oh why did I listen to the guy who wanted us down low? Both Neil, who has the higher perf FJ Cruiser and I got stuck; especially me who tried to rock it out. Anyway, we needed to at least let air out of the 'tyres' which we did. We both have air pumps. I went up to the car earlier than he and just managed to get stuck worse. I didn't have anything to let the air out of the tires so I used a pen and counted to 60 for each tire. Who would have thought that using the point of a ball tip pen would cause the ink to cover both of my hands -- it was dark. My hands look like an Afghan voter. What a mess. I chucked that high quality Staedtler pen off into the dunes. I was so pissed off. 0 comments |
